A good range of excursions and social activities are available. The following is a small example of the wide range available.

Stonehenge, Bath and Salisbury - Stonehenge is the world famous ring of standing stones which date back at least 5,000 years and remains a site of Pagan worship to this day. The historic city of bath with its Roman Baths, ancient ruins and excellent shopping. Salisbury has the historical cathedral with its magnificent architecture and ancient documents. Other interesting places to visit include, London, Weymouth, Bournemouth, Exeter, Lyme Regis, Forde Abbey, the wonderful Jurassic coast and much more.

Social Activities

Many social activities are included as part of the programme for all students and guided tours of the local area, beach and cliff walks, cinema, fossil hunting, beach barbecue, tennis, bowling, swimming, beach games, picnic in the park, musical evenings. circus skills, salsa dancing etc

The West Dorset area offers a good range of different things to do, from delicious local food and drink, to art festivals, concerts and performances to suit any taste, there is always something happening.

We are on the Jurassic coast which is a World Heritage Site and the area is famous for fossil hunting walks. West Dorset is rich in art and art history with local art centres and theatres provide a vibrant performing and literary arts programme. There are many historic houses and gardens to visit and good local exhibitions.

There are many good places to eat out ranging from award winning restaurants to quaint tea rooms, together with traditional English pubs where you can enjoy locally produced food and beer (depending on age).

The Jurassic coast is a world heritage site and the beaches are world famous for the amazing fossils that can be found. You can go on one of the fossil hunting excursions with a local expert and keep any fossils you find.

 

 

 

Sailing for Children and Adults

Sailing for beginners or for the more experienced sailor can be included as part of your course. Sailing courses are available where the 2012 Olympic sailing events will be held. Please ask for details.

Arts and Crafts

West Dorset is rich in art and art history. Local arts centres and theatres provide a vibrant performing, visual and literary arts programme. There are many historic houses and gardens to visit and good local exhibitions.

Food and Drink

There are many good places to eat out from award winning restaurants to quaint tea rooms. There are good traditional English pubs where you can enjoy locally produced beer and food. There are many food and drink festivals held throughout the year, with a farmers market held regularly in the local market town of Bridport.

2012 Olympic Games

The 2012 Olympic Games sailing events will be held here. The preparation for the games has already started. A visit to the sailing academy in Weymouth is worthwhile. Other sports available are tennis, golf, cycling, swimming, fishing, diving, football, coastal walking etc.
